Frequently asked questions

Common questions before booking.

How do I know which service to choose?

You do not need to know before booking. Start with the service area that seems closest, or book a free phone consultation and we will help route you.

Do you work with both children and adults?

Yes. Arbutus Speech Therapy supports pediatric and adult clients, with clinician experience across speech, language, voice, swallowing, accent modification, AAC, rehabilitation, and social communication.

Do you offer online speech therapy?

Yes. Online speech therapy is available across BC when clinically appropriate. Some services are better suited to in-person care, and your SLP can discuss that fit during consultation.

Do I need a referral?

No. You do not need a medical referral or formal diagnosis to access private SLP services. Your SLP will complete an assessment and explain the recommended next step.

Can services be covered by benefits or funding?

Some services may be covered by extended health benefits, autism funding, ICBC, WorkSafeBC, or private funding. Coverage varies, so confirm your plan or read the funding guide before booking.

What are your fees?

Fees and funding options can be discussed during the free phone consultation. Arbutus Speech Therapy’s rates are competitive for private SLP services in Vancouver, and the guide is available if you would like a written reference.
