COVID-19 Safety Plan

Arbutus Speech Therapy’s COVID-19 Safety Plan ensures the wellbeing of its clients and speech therapists:

At Arbutus Speech Therapy, we are encouraging teletherapy whenever possible, and when it’s appropriate for our clients. In-person services are considered on a case by case basis.

Symptoms of COVID-19

Symptoms of COVID-19 are similar to other respiratory illnesses and seasonal allergies. If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, please notify your Speech Therapist ASAP to reschedule your appointment or consider an online session instead.

  • Fever
  • Persistent dry cough
  • Fatigue
  • Headache
  • Shortness of breath
  • Sore throat or difficulty swallowing
  • Runny or blocked nose
  • Chills
  • Muscle aches
  • Loss of appetite
  • Loss of sense of smell

Safety Measures

  • Your speech therapist will wash their hands and/or apply hand sanitizer at the beginning of the visit.
  • A mask will be worn at all times over the nose and mouth.
  • Therapy materials brought into your home will be sanitized thoroughly prior to home visits. Consider making your own toys available for extra protection.

Preparing For a Visit

  • Please ensure all surfaces where speech therapy will be taking place have been sanitized prior to the visit.
  • We kindly ask that household members over the age of 12 wear a mask or face covering if it is not possible to stay 2 meters apart.
  • Contactless forms of payment are encouraged (credit card, e-transfer etc.).

Together, we can ensure our community is as safe as possible, while allowing essential services to reach the people who need them. It’s a community effort, and we appreciate your support.
